hey guys!!
well as im sure you guys can guess we have already had drama in our trip, in fact it started at the airport with us causually walking in early to check in for our flight and then being put onto an earlier flight, que mad running accross the airport (obvious pre training for the inca trail, we are now sure we are going top die and are the most unfit people in the world), pushing our way through security and sian madly attempting to pick up the money she had ordered as the flight was about to set off! Our Iberia flight experience was not the best, although we had awesome seats which included a tv in front of us and the most leg room on the flight the whole experience was memoravkle for all the wrong reasons. It was slightly worrying that rain started coming through the emergency exit and the air hostess fell asleep before we had even taken off. The food was hideous and the air hostesses seemed to hate anyone that was not spanish but we did however survive and turned up in lima all on time and safe
had a chilled night in the hostel in lima (after a near death experience in the taxi) as we had been up for over 24hrs and were shattered.
Spent the next day wandering around lima, got to say there is nothing there at all, its rather uglyand "it sure aint no paris" as Jenkins constantly reminded us. We did watch the peruvian changing of the guards which i have to say was less than impressive although the trumpeting horses were quite funny. To get back we took a traditional s.american bus, the people in the hostel were proud and slightly shocked (clearly we do not look capable of doing anything on our own), alex seemd to master the art of stranding in the massive crowd and looking normal, me and sian dont quite have those skills yet and we ended up swinging from the handles provided and banging in to people, at least the locals were entertained (more laughing at us than with us) and one loveoly man even evtually stood up so i could sit down (im guessing he was quite scared for his own safety). We also did not think to wear any suncream, for some reason we seemed shocked that it is boiling here and that the sun does actually burn us, we now are both sporting extremely embarssing sunburn lines including stripy arms and very red noses, we couldnt look more like english tourists if we tried, but we have learnt our leason mums and we are now smothering on the cream.
we were meant to have a chilled night out when we got back, we had a good laze around and planned on a few glasses of wine with the dinner of a peruvian stuir fry in the hostel - hopwever somewhere along the line this all went wrong, we were both taught how to play polka were taken to a club where we danced salsa and ended the night in a casino eventually getting home about six, we blame our australian room mates!
the bus joruney to huachina, which is where we are writing to you from now, was slightly painful with sore heads but we managed it and got here last night to a really lovely hostel which is surrounded by sand dunes and has a gorgeous pool and nice bar. today we are celebrating alexs birthday by singing happy birthday to him at every given moment and also going sand boarding this afternoon which im sure we will tell you all about later!
That´s it for now as we need to get back to this lovely lovely heat. We hear its been snowing and below freezing back in the UK......shame guys.
lots of love to everyone, we do miss you really.
