Saturday the 21st of Nov:
Michelle and her husband Pierre owns a villa with 4 rooms on the 1st floor (which included their own room) and a small restaurant and the ground floor. She was very welcoming yesterday when I arrived late at the Villa and I had the most delicious dinner 'Beef Bourgogne' with mashed potatoes. It was nice to have a real western meal for a change.
Michelle asked if I wanted to try a local bread instead of normal white toast bread and it was a great decision. I had Breakfast at 08:15am; Omelette + charcoal bead and green tea. The charcoal bread was very soft and contained walnuts, I think. It was very tasty :)
After finishing breakfast I went to my room to check updates on emails and FB.
At around noon at I walked to the beach, had lunch at Chinese restaurant (fried chicken with plume sauce + steamed rice). And on the way back to the B&B I bought an ice coffee at stall by the road and told the man to just make it as he preferred, and the man gave me a free bag of crisps (extra spicy flavour though), very sweet of him. And then he said 'see you soon' ;-)
Walked to the shopping mall approx 2-3 km away from the Villa and did some serious shopping at tesco's. I asked the taxi driver at the mall if he liked spicy crisps and he said yes so I gave him the spicy crisps. Might as well give it to someone who appreciates the flavour. Took a taxi back to B&B since I had shopping bags and it started to rain.
Probably walked about 5km today in total.
Had dinner at the B&B (Prawn bisque soup, Lentil salat with salmon and egg + a glass of white wine and then an Affrocato (coffee with ice cream).
Sunday the 22nd of Nov:
Had Breakfast at 9:30am, a bit later than expected but Michelle had forgotten to buy eggs and had to do a shopping run. I didn't mind though, had some coffee and orange juice while waiting and was entertained by their 3 year old son who started decorating me with christmas decorations.
Went to the beach which was only a 100 meters from the villa and a very calm area. Had half a beach day in the shade. Didn't want to get a sunburn. Walked back to the Villa when it started to rain at around 2:15pm.
Then I packed my luggage for my move to Georgetown, the main city of Penang.
Didn't have anything exciting for dinner since the restaurant at the Villa was closed and it rained too much for me to walk anywhere. Just had cornflakes with milk and a few carrots on the side ;)
Monday the 23rd of Nov:
Had breakfast at the B&B at around 9:00am. Took a taxi from the B&B at 1:15pm to the hostel in Georgetown.
The trip was 26,70 RM and I gave the driver 50RM and he only gave me 3,30 RM in return and said ok. I had to explain to him that 20 RM was missing and show him the balance on my calculator app on my mobile.
After dropping off my luggage at the hostel I walked around Georgetown for a while, had lunch and went to a nice little café called 'Micasa', meet a guy from Malaysia who had moved to Germany but was in Penang on a business trip with his business partner from the UK. He recommended a visit to the Island Pangkor and gave me the name of the only guest house located on the Island :)
After talking to the Malaysian guy I meet two girls vacationing at Penang (from Spain Monica, a blond girl, and Tysha from Mexico). They had flown directly from Kuala Lumpur where they had had a terrible experience with Monica getting robbed of her handbag with all her ID, monies, medications and valuables. They were walking along a big road and suddenly two guys on a motorbike just grabbed Monica's handbag and rode off. She tried to hold on but with them being on a motorbike it was very dangerous being pulled into the traffic on the road. She didn't wear a cross-body or a backpack, only had a handbag on her arm. They were very sad that their vacation had started off so badly but when filing a report of the robbery at the police station they came in contact with a very kind policeman who bought new medications for Monica because she didn't have any monies left and told her not to worry. They are still in contact with him through the app 'Whats app'.
We met up later for dinner and drinks (Reggae Mansion and Micasa). The owner of the cafe 'Micasa' is called Penny and she is such a sweetheart. Going out of her way to make you feel good and will gladly give advice on where to find the best food in Georgetown :)
