6th - 8th August - Seremban
The next stop was Seremban my old home town, which isn't normally on peoples list as its a small town but it was on our list for me to take a walk down memory lane and visit Siva, my Dad's best friend when we lived here. Since we moved back to England, Siva has got married and had two children and we were hoping to find him, surprise him and meet his family.
As we got in a taxi to find a hotel I said to Si to look out for the Star newspaper offices at that is where Siva worked before we left. I was just hoping he still did, although we did have a home address for him. Anyway as we were driving Si pointed out the offices and who should be standing there but Siva himself!
We checked into a lovely hotel (best accomodation we have had in Malaysia) and walked round to his office. I was really nervous about meeting up with him. He did still work there but had left the office. The receptionist rang him and put me on the phone, he couldn't believe it was me and me to stay put, he'd be there in 20mins.
It was fantastic meeting up with his again and meeting his wife Pathma, his daughter Thulasi, and his son Yagnes. Sive took me to see my old house which still looks exactly the same, it even still has the mosquito nets my dad put up all those years ago!, we then went to the old swimming club we were once all members of although we were unable to go inside. We went to Linghams (thankgod that was still there!) the curry house that we used to eat many a roti chani and banana leaf curry in, it is still owned by the same family aswell! He then took me to see the shopping mall that i had once loved so much, but it was sadly derelict now.
We went out for a few meals with Siva and his family and one night we went out with Siva, his brother Dave and Aru amongst a few others. To say we were drun by the end of it was probably an understatement. We started off in Linghams the curry house at 5pm with a few nibbles (Siva did not stop feeding us the entire time we were there!) and a bottle of whisky, we then proceeded to a few other places including an old haunt of my parents the San Jose Club which is also still there. 3 bottles of whiskey and copious beers later we stumbled into our hotel around 2.30am. oh and si fell asleep in the bar again!
We were extrememly hungover the next day, i managed to meet siva for lunch, Si didn't, however i couldn't stomach anything!
We had a lovelyfew days there and thank Siva and his family for their hospitality, it was lovely finally meeting them all. Hello if you are reading this! xxxxxx
