Well I'm back home to Saskatchewan after almost 24 hours in airports and on planes. I would have posted my last blog sooner, but I've been catching up on some much needed sleep haha. I've also finally gotten to eat a very yummy grilled cheese and I've finally had some peanut butter. They have absolutely no peanut butter anywhere in South America, that I could find anyways, so I definetly missed it. I finally have all my stuff unpacked and all the souviners I bought organized. Aside from sleeping and napping I have been enjoying just being home and relaxing. Although, unfortunately, I havent gotten any nice summer sun yet and I was really hoping to catch up on my tan once I got home.
I did have a great couple of days in Buenos Aires to finish off my trip which was awesome. We had a very long bus ride from Iguazu to Buenos Aires, about 18 hours long, but luckily I was able to sleep on this bus trip. Once we arrived we checked into our hostel and then right away we had a food tour. The food tour was great, we made four stops along the way and each place had great food. We started off with a classic Argentinian street food, which was basically sausage in a bun. It was quite yummy. Our next stop we had empanadas. This is another classic South American street food that is eaten as a mid-morning snack and it is delicious. This one was no different, and I was glad to have one more empanada before going back home. Our third stop was the actual meal part of the tour. And because Argentina is known for its steak, natually we were served steak. It was very delicious and tender. Argentinian steak is so good because apparently it is illegal to use any hormones in their beef and this also makes makes the milk very good, resulting in good icecream too. As well as the delicious steak we got bread, salad, some eggplant and some cooked provalone cheese. Everything we ate at this resteraunt was very good. It was also a unique experiance because this resteraunt doesnt want tourists to visit there so they dont have a sign outside and it always looks locked up and closed even when its open. This resteraunt also changes it name every couple of weeks so that no reviews can be posted online. Our last stop on the tour was an ice cream shop. All of the ice cream is made fresh daily and the flavours are frequently changing. We got to have two flavours and I picked almond and marscapone and both were very delicious. It was a perfect end to the tour.
We then had a couple hour break before our tango night experiance. We got picked up at our hostel and then we started out with a tango lesson. It was actually a pretty fun time and now I can say I know a little tango. After the lesson was over we even got a a certificate saying we completed a beginner tango lesson. After our lesson we got a very delicious dinner and a tango show which was very cool. The dancers were very good and they put on a great show.
After our late night out we got up early to go on a city tour. I got to see a few things, but unfortunately the tour was going later then we were originally told so I had to leave early so I could make it to the airport on time. So after a little bit of a city tour and saying good-bye to Alyssa, I packed up and headed to the airport.
Overall every plane ride and airport was great. My stop over in Santiago, Chile ended up being very short and there was only a little turbluence going over the Andes.
Once I was back in Canada in Toronto I got Tim Hortons haha and I waited for my flight home. That was a smooth flight too, except for the last half hour coming into Saskatoon, and that was due to the rain that was currently over Sasktoon. But no worries, it all worked out and the landing was great.
Waiting at the Saskatoon airport for me was Quinn which was awesome. He was even a gentlemen and carried my very heavy backpack for me.
So now that I'm home to Saskachewan and I'm catching up on my sleep I can't wait to go home to Weyburn and see my family and Quinn's family too. I have souviners to give out and pictures and stories to share.
I had a great trip. It was an awesome experience and I learned so much about the South American culture and their way of life. i'm really glad I went on this adventure, it is something I will remember for the rest of my life.
