Today started the European continent leg of our holiday. We spent a great day in Edinburgh yesterday and this morning saw us winging across the channel to Paris. First impressions? The last couple of days have been a little up and down for us. Our castle stay stay was interrupted by a bout of food poisoning which lasted until our arrival in Port Augustus. It didn't keep us down though. We still packed a heap in including Portree, chasing Nessie, Urquart Castle, the canals an now a sleepy little village called Huntly. Blessed be the great land of Scotland, no sooner had we hit the highlands it started to rain and it rained and it rained and it rained. Our tour today took us to Stirling Castle, the William Wallace Monument and Loch Lomond. Well today was York to Edinburgh with a couple of little side trips in between. We took the more scenic route north visiting the Lakes District and Hadrian's Wall. This was such a great drive with so much to see. The Scots love there speed cameras, there was ten between the border and the capital and it's only a ninety mile drive. We're at a small guest house tonight. We've just returned from the city where I enjoyed my first bites oh Haggis, it was good.

We've just arrived in York and checked into the most amazing B&B just a stones throw from the heart of the ancient city. Have you heard of 'The house of the trembling madness?' No... Well we were pointed in the direction of this pub by our host (apparently we had the look about us) and oh my god. They serve the most incredible Belgium beer here. This could have been a mistake, we may never leave.
