He says: Our plan for Brisbane was to visit the famed Australia Zoo - former home of the Crocodile Hunter himself, the late Steve Irwin. However, when we reached the visitor information centre they informed us it was a 90 minute drive from the port and it would be tight to get back in time for our departure time of 530 pm. We decided the animals would have to wait for another visit, and proceeded to take a water taxi into the downtown core.
Brisbane is a really nice city, even better than I expected. It's located on a winding river, so you can travel by high speed water taxi everywhere. This made for a really unique and memorable way of getting downtown. After disembarking we found the nearest Pie Face and I ate another delicious sausage roll. Truthfully, I think I may experience the shakes once we leave this part of the world as I go through sausage roll withdrawal. Never before have I found a more perfect food item.
With Shauna still feeling the effects of the boat bug we bought some tickets for the HOHO bus tour to take us around he city. We visited some cool stops along the way, including the city's massive rugby stadium, and two great viewpoints overlooking the city, the HOHO didn't let us down.
We happened upon a great farmers market, with loads of vendors offering fresh fruit and bread. There were also a ton of buskers providing the soundtrack to our experience. Don't worry, I've realized I'm getting old when I get excited about a farmers market.
In short, Brisbane is definitely a city that I'd like to come back to.

Kim It was also One of Marv and Carol's favorites. try and see if you can get a recipe for the Aussie version of the sausage roll. Is it the casing, the sausage, the toppings or ? Xxoo
shauna Im not surprised - it's a great city! Re: sausage roll - it's the whole package - the breading and the sausage! Theres a great place called Pie Face here that has dozens of locations. Apparently they've opened two locations in NYC...
Laurie Pollock Limited hours in port - the downside of cruising! You are just getting a taste of a whole continent (and its sausages). I'm sure you will be back for more.
Kim O.k. Just googled Pie Face and I can now appreciate the excitement. Genius...will have to see what I can do:)
