howdy!
This will probably be the last blog entry from the North Islands as we are travelling over to the South Islands at 8am tomorrow morning! We've had a busy, busy few days travelling from Taupo to Wellington.
We headed to the Tongario National Park after Taupo - This is where the majority of filming was done for Lord of the Rings so as you can imagine, the scenary was amazing!
We walked the Tongario Crossing or should I say climbed it, it was a killer! It should have taken 8 hours and we managed to do it in 6 and a half but it was hard going. The first 2 hours nearly killed us! At times it was literally climbing up the rock faces but it was totally worth it in the end. Watching Mt. Doom (an active volcano) smoke, the Red Crator and the Emerald Lakes were worth the pain and effort as you will see form the pictures. Hope you enjoy!
For now its goodbye from the North and we'll be in touch from the South.
