20-23 April
The bus ride to Chiang Mai was five hours and in a hot, cramped mini van. I didn't mind, but Adam had severe stomach cramps and was very ill.
As soon as we arrived in Chiang Mai at 4pm we checked into the first guesthouse we came across and Adam spent the next 24 hours in bed or on the toilet. The next day we took it fairly easy buying new supplies and a brand new camera for Adam with his work bonus. At night we checked out the world famous night bazaar, but it wasn't that great. I think Bury market has more of a right to claim that it is world famous.
The following day we went to try and see some Thai boxing at night and during the day I tried to find the women's prison to get a massage, but we couldn't find it. We found out that the Thai boxing had been cancelled to we spent the night in some of the lady bars in Chiang Mai.
Chiang Mai was a lovely wee city totally overlooked by people coming up for the trekking.
We couldn't afford the trekking, but I did manage to afford three massages.
