Taido-ji temple, Nara
World's largest wooden building. The original was rasied in the 8th century. The present building was rebuilt in the 19th century at 2/3 of the original size. It is still the world's largest wooden building.

Håkan As we all know, Torbjörn is a known liar :-) According to Wikipedia "The Great Buddha Hall (Daibutsuden) has been rebuilt twice after fire. The current building was finished in 1709, and although immense—57 m long and 50 m wide—it is actually 30% smaller than its predecessor. Until 1998, it was the world's largest wooden building.[12] It has been surpassed by modern structures, such as the Japanese baseball stadium 'Odate Jukai Dome', amongst others." Still very, very impressive though.
Ulrika I would say the guide book was the liar. :) And impressive just doesn't cover it, there aren't words to describe this place. Suffice to say, it's way cooler than a baseball arena even if the arena is bigger... ;)
Anna Not to mention it's absolutely beautiful! =)
