Costa Rica (cont´d): La Fortuna, Monteverde

La Fortuna was a bit of a washout, as the bright sunshine of the morning turned to heavy storms and our tour to see the volcano lava and hot springs was cancelled, but then it was on to Monteverde by jeep and boat to see the cloud forests.

We spent an afternoon walking in the cloud forest trying to spot wildlife (I´m sure I spotted a monkey), and today we did an amazing series of zipwire rides through the rainforest. The highlights were the tarzan swing and a ´superman´ zipwire, where you are completely suspended and feel like you´re flying through the treetops. This afternoon we followed it up with a more sedate tour to a coffee, sugar and banana plantation which took us through the whole process of growing and processing them on an organic farm - who knew it took so much effort to make a cup of coffee?!

Tomorrow we have a long trip to Isla de Ometepe in Nicaragua where we´re staying on an eco-friendly organic farm which overlooks one of the volcanoes.
