The neighbours were putting on a free dessert party for new years, for some reason. They enthusiastically ushered me into the room as I passed by and fed me their prized dessert, a gelatin-y dumpling floating in a soup of sweet red bean paste. I got caught out with this stuff in China too and it is...ahem...not my cup of tea.
