2nd March 2009 pm: So still in Nha Trang, we went out in the evening and met a couple of people that had been on our boat trip. Nha Trang in the evning is kind of like Newquay - you get leaflets to go to places, free drinks and free shots. We went to the Red Apple Club and the back to our favourite the Why Not? Bar (we realised that the night before we had just been too early)
3rd/4th March 2009 : Our last day in Nha Trang and a much cooler day, we had a HUGE lunch at the rainbow cafe and the wandered around the shops and went to the beach for a bit, all in preparation for our TWELVE HOUR BUS JOURNEY. The bus was actually pretty good, there were no seats but instead stacks of bunk beds, with air conditioning and sarah and I were next to each other :) We stopped at midnight at some strange transport cafe which had lots of rats... so I stuck to my oreo biscuits. We arrived back in Hoi An at about six am and were greeted by a motorbike taxi... fun times!
Our room wasn't ready so we had our free breakfast and then went shopping. Hoi An is full of dress and shoe shops and everything is tailored for you... you can walk past the first 100 but after that they become very tempting. Sarah and I managed to buy exactly the same shoes!! And spent a milion hours in a dress shop trying on different dresses.
Tired and all shopped out we had a really good Vietnamese meal in a slightly dodgy looking restaurant.
5th March 2009: We had to run around and pick up purchases as we did not have much time before our bus... however we managed to get distracted by a random lady (it was my fault... I wanted a manicure) and somehow both ended up having our legs threaded which I don't think comes very high on Sarah's favourite activity list! We made our bus at lunch time for a five(ish) hour journey to Hue. The bus wasn't bad, the seats a little plasticified, the air con useless but the best bit was our bus driver who has SERIOUS road rage and nearly crashed our bus before getting out to shout at the man he had been wrecklessly trying to overtake... We arrived in Hue and checked into the nearest hotel before dinner.
Today! : we moved to the hotel we booked in Hue (but which couldn't have us for last night) and on the way found a place that according to lonely planet served a selection of french pastries (or 2 types if that counts....) we had a cultural day, going around the
imperial enclosure... including the Thai Hoa Palace, the Halls of Mandarins and Forbidden Purple City... we wanted to see a cultural show and the woman let us go in and sit down before telling us we had to wait another hour... so we gave up.....
Won't leave it so long next time.... xxxx
