Today we headed to the city of Arezzo to wander about and see the market, which is held the first Sunday of every month, or so.
If the bus at Neuschwanstein was a sardine can on wheels, the second train we rode to Arezzo was a can on rails. So many people were riding it, as it connected to most major Italian cities, that there was absolutely no seating, and hardly any standing room.
Todd challenged us to find the coolest/weirdest/most unique item we could for one Euro. By the end of the day, I ended up buying a glass Christmas ornament. We were all to wander about the market and study how people interacted with each other and their environment.
The train was just as crowded on our way back, and one of the occupants was a rather strange, dirty, hairy man with a beaten-up backpack who burst onto the train in the last moment, dashed through to the next car where he closed himself in the bathroom, apparently to gather as many paper towels as possible; he then proceded to cover the stairwell with paper towels to keep from getting dirty. When we got off the train, he was standing guard over his stairwell, glaring at anyone who came near.
