Hello all, well I think this is long overdue! Sorry for that Sydney was so busy and Melbourne was a short four days and before we knew it we were in Adelaide and I'll come to that!
So the last you heard we had done the Bondi to Coogee walk , well the following day it was a day of romance (aka Valentines Day!) and the morning of our seaplane ride. We set off and I have to say we were both really looking forward to it, it was only a 20 min flight up the East Coast but totally new for both of us. It was fantastic and really Iain should describe as he fully enjoyed the experience whereas mine was tainted by the ole travel sickness coming back, what I hadn't bargained for was that on such a small plane you feel absolutely everything and at the point where the plane was on its side and I was starting into the sea, I began to feel unwell:) Iain on the other hand really enjoyd it and I did too but I think it's probably a once only for me! That afternoon we spent it on the beach just chilling out before heading out for a romantic meal (the only place that wasn't booked up when we tried to book Thurs aft). However my real treat was still to come as Friday morning was DDay for the spectacular bridge climb. After quite some finding we arrived at 7.40am (yes you're reading this right) for the climb of our life as the brochure says! All in all it takes 3 hours to complete and was brilliant and it's true that it's not scary at all, the most scary part is at the bottom when you begin the ascent on the ladders, once you're actually on the bridge, it's just like walking up a small hill (maybe that's a slight under exaggeration!). The views from the top and we looked like the lemmings that we had previously seen when stood on the ground. Friday night we met up with Danny and another of Iain's friends Sully who is living out here in Sydney at the moment and we all went to the Rocks for a night out and a pizza where I have to say full credit to Danny and Sully for their dancing moves, nothing like I've seen before:)
The following morning was another early start and hire car adventure. Iain had been raving about Jervis Bay since we arrived so Saturday was the day for the trip. Iain went to pick up the hire car which was another Mitsibushi 380 (not what we ordered but according to Iain he was mysteriously upgraded on arrival) and we picked up Danny and set off to Jervis Bay. A McDonalds stop and 2 and a half hours later we arrived at Jervis Bay to discover it was a national park (that means you pay as you drive in) and drove down to a car park and went for a look round. There was a fantastic beach, better than Whitehaven I would say and that was it, as we looked for a nice cafe bar to refuel it become apparently obvious that there was only one shop on the island which also doubled as the cafe and served everything dripping with grease. As there was a campsite we decided to use one of the free bbq areas and therefore just buy bbq fodder of which there was none. That afternoon we played cricket on the beach, then I took up my spectators seat whilst Iain and Danny played on. We left about 4 to set off home and it has to be said that despite my initial thoughts, Iain was right and it was well worth going. That night, as it was our last night, we headed back to Watsons Bay for more fish and chips. Sydney is a great place and has just about everything you need and hopefully one day we'll be back! Lots of love, bye for now Sara and Iain xxxxx
