Phil & Sandra Langtons Travel Adventures in Europe
- Tuesday 16 October we farewelled our hospitable B & B hosts at Godshill/Sandford on the Isle of Wight and headed for London. We had a stop to investigate some model plane equipment at Rowlands Castle and later for our lunch purchase. Returned the hire car near Gatwick and trained into London. We decided on a taxi to get to hotel Copthorne Tara , Scarsdale place in Kensington. Had a walk around and went back and had Chinese for dinner - quite nice. Bed early as we received a welcome letter which informed us of a very early wake up call . We duly arose at 4.45am and picked up our boxed breakfast of cornflakes , a fruit bar and orange juice! My stomach wasn't awake yet !. We boarded the coach at 5.45am and after another couple of London pick-ups in the dark we headed for Dover. We had passport check and security - Phil was one of the passengers to be chosen to be checked ,,all okay and we were on our way. We missed the proposed 8 o'clock but were put on the 9 am one . We are now heading toward Calais. It was raining when we left so we are hoping for better conditions as we head toward Bruges. The crossing on the ferry is good. We shall be with this coach load of folk for the next 21 days. Patrick Sidney is our guide and Jean Carlos the driver. Seems it may be quite a long day today as we are crossing the channel, visiting Bruges & Brussels. Here we go, on the next set of adventures, I hope we don't have too many 5am starts!
