After a lovely time in Lucerne we set forth in the dark of the early morning. Our first stop around 10 am was Valduz, Leichenstein's capital. Went to the post office ,sent some postcards and went to the philatelic shop. Had a walk around and took photos of the castle as the mist had cleared. Back on the coach and enjoyed the views of the Arlberg route through the Tyrol , Austria. Innsbruck was our overnight stop. We had our orientation of the city, visited the Swarovski shop, then we had some schnitzel and kebab salad for a delicious lunch. I bought a nice red Tyrollean hat. We had a delightful ride by horse and cart out into the country side. We had such fun in the cart being towed behind the main cart. Champagne and orange juice flowed freely as did the laughter. Had a stop at a local pub so nicely decorated with local wood. We also had a look in the near-by church. This journey out of town was a real highlight of our visit to Innsbruck. After a light snack for dinner we retired to bed. About midnight we were woken by workmen grinding the tram rails. After an hour or so we managed to get back to sleep! The 6am wake-up call came all too quickly. Breakfast and on the road again before the sun was up. We had a good stop at Salzburg - the Sound of Music town - had a great walking tour around ,had some lunch, bought some post cards and returned to the coach to proceed onto Vienna watching Sound of Music DVD and occasionally singing along.. Had a nice time here - yet another walking tour. After a caesar salad from McDonalds for lunch we found a shop where we could buy a genuine cuckoo clock , we had this sent hiome via post. We went to the lovely St Stephen's church where I walked the hundreds of steps up the chuch steeple. What an amazing view of the city and the incredible mosaic tiled roof. We did some souvenir shopping and successfully found our way back to the hotel ,relaxed , dinner and a good rest ready for another journey in the coach to Venice.
Our tour group have jelled quite well. A few little groups forming but on the whole we all get on. Patrick and Jean Carlos are great.
