After leaving Sydney i headed to Newcastle (Why-Aye-man!!) This was just a little seaside town, but it was very nice and I liked the change of pace from Singapore and Sydney alot. I spent three nights there and managed to befriend a german girl who was there the same amount of time as me so we wandered around the town, went to the beach and went to a viewing tower the locals have nicknamed the giant penis!! I tried my hand at boogie boarding in the massive surf, which was alot of fun, even though got bashed around by the dea, lot and sun burnt!! hehe.
The beaches there were beautiful, sooo much nicer than anything in England!!
After this we moved on to Port Macquarie. This was another Seaside town, with more beautiful beaches. We went to a Koala Sanctuary which was really cute. All the Koalas there were either found sick or injured (usually by cars) and brought to this place to get better and hopefully released into the wild. One of the Koalas there, who was a permenant resident because of burns from a bush fire managed to get pregnant from a naughty wild koala who snuck into the sanctuary, hehe. So she had a little baby with her too, who was very cute.
We also went to a Rainforest reserve here, which was pretty cool. Didnt see much wildlife though, apart from a bush turkey, but all the tree were cool, especially the strangler fig tree that grows around existing trees, strealing their water and light!! lol.
Then it was on to Coffs Harbour. Unfortunately it rained pretty much the whole time I was here.
But i braved the rain and headed out to Muttonbird Island which is just alittle reserve attached to the mainland. There were supposed to be lots of birds here, but I only saw a few, guess they didnt like the rain either!!
I did get to see some 'wildlife' at the Pet Porpoise pool tho!! It was like a small town version of seaworld, but i loved it. I got kisses from a Seal and a Dolphin, Fed a turtle and shark and saw a 'show' that invloved the dolphins doing jumps, etc.
Apparently i shouldve gone to see the Big Banana while i was in Coffs but it was about an hour walk, and as it was raining i decided to give it a miss!!
When it eventually stopped raining I headed to the beach, even though it was still grey and cloudy.
Next stop was Byron Bay!!! xxx
