Hello!!!
Right first blog out of england, how exciting!!
We were delayed slightly on our flight out, but the flight then only took 12hours so we arrived in KL on time, flight was super, no complaints, extra leg room was spot on, food was amazing and slept/dozed for most of it, no need for the entertainment! After a short bus ride and a probably over priced taxi (still less than 3quid) we arrived at the red palm hostel, think we are in a district called Bukit Bingtang! Hostel is pretty sweet and right in the middle of all the fun!!
After arriving last night, we popped out, grabbed some fit malaysian grub from a street hawker, took a stroll around the local area and then grabbed some beers and met a few of our fellow travellers in the hostel!
Not the best nights sleep had, and malaria tablets seem to be giving me and the smithster some weird heart burn but we are coping!
Today we were up and out by 10am and took a tour of the city, taking in the petronas twin towers, the KL tower, which had some amazing views over the city! As we were up there we could see a big big big rain storm making its way over the city towards us so we decided to run down before it hit us 439m up! had a go on an F1 simulator..i finished first of course..get in!! and then went to see some monkeys and snakes!!
We decided we would now try and book our ticket out of KL, so we hopped on the mono rail, now in pouring rain, and headed to KL Sentral station....apparently you can get a bus or train to anywhere in Malaysia from here...they lie! We checked with information and were sent off on another train to another district where we would find our bus....again they lied! We got off the train and went to the adjoining bus station...they had never heard of cameron highlands (our next destination) and pointed us towards another bus station! We then proceeded to walk for about 45mins in terrential rain, soaked completely through in search of the station....we couldnt find it! So we decided to give up and ask back in the hostel....however....on our walk back towards the metro station we walked into a multi storey car park with a lot of coaches in it!! We found it!! so we are now booked on a coach on friday to take us to cameroon highlands, we then proceeded to walk in the rain some more and get 2 more trains and another 10min walk in the rain!
After our mission we took a much needed nap and some chill time, then headed off to china town for some dinner....5mins walking towards china town we suddenly started to recognise the area....it was the bl00dy coach station, no more than 5mins from our hostel!! frustrating but we had fun on our search earlier! amazing how things which would do your head in in england just dont seem important already...walking for an hour soaked to the skin completely lost was strangley fun..and refreshing...when its not raining it is hot hot hot out here!!
Any way, enough rambling, sorry nothing too exciting to report so far but our story to date! We've just got back from china town and another super meal, tiredness is kicking in now so an early night and try and get some sleep which we have both lacked so far!!
Much love to you all! Next update will be probably in a couple of weeks depending on internet at our next stop!!
Bye for now!!
