Sheila Next to one of the shacks we have used in Goa was a rough 'telephone box'. The lads would haul buckets of sea water to the facilities. Inside the box was a barrel of sea water with a jug so that you could flush the toilet after use. I have no idea where the contents of the toilet would go. In the interests of hygiene there was another barrel of sea water outside to wash your hands. Last year, at a different shack, a tourist had a bad tummy and was sitting on the toilet when a snake emerged from a gap in the wall. What a dilemma!

Faye AMAZING!!! This really is a once in a lifetime experience and I bet if I was there I would have jumped in too! xx
Ian Ord - Where Sidewalks End Thanks for linking back to my article (http://wheresidewalksend.com/bamboo-nest-travel-secret/) - it looks like you had a blast there. I just revisited for the first time in 2.5 years, and it was a fantastic experience again! Such a refreshing change of pace from a hectic life we often find ourselves living :) Glad you liked it too!
re: Bamboo Nest, Chiang Rai, Thailandsallymay Hello! Thanks for the encouraging comments! I would like to give Bangkok another go, and visit the palace. It just didn't work out that way, as there were 4 of us and Carolyn's version of taking it easy and winding it down after a hard project is a little different from mine. It involves drinking cocktails all night in a range of impressive establishments. I thought I was going to die on Sunday. Even activated charcoal didn't do he trick.
re: Bamboo Nest, Chiang Rai, ThailandDad Brilliant as ever Sal!Delighted that you're enjoying things so much and your descriptive powers are fantastic.(A book could come from this?).Enjoy it all and stay safe.:-).Luvyaloads.
re: Bamboo Nest, Chiang Rai, ThailandSheila Can't wait for the next episode! I gather you did not enjoy Bangkok. I normally don't like cities but found Bangkok very interesting and loved The Grand Palace.
re: Bamboo Nest, Chiang Rai, ThailandAlex Beautifully descriptive. Made me want to see the places for myself which is the sign of a good travel log. Just sad that paradise is being slahed and burned
