After the skydive we stayed one night in Wanaka. We arrived pretty late because of the snow delay and then everybody wanting to do the skydive. Another tour group, Kiwi Experience, had stayed the same place as us in Franz Joseph and left an hour earlier than us in the morn (8am) and had ended up stuck in the snow and arrived at Wanaka only an hour before we had! So they'd been stuck the whole day whereas at least we'd made the most of the day ;) We also found out that a bus carrying a load of Asian tourists had skidded off the road and rolled over (!!) but luckily nobody was badly hurt. Apparently they were more concerned with getting off and taking photographs of the accident!
The morning after Wanaka we were to head for Queenstown, but not before stopping at Puzzling World on the way ha. This is basically a building full of weird illusions and tricks of the eye such as an optical illusion room that makes you look like a giant in one corner and a midget in the other - a trick used in the Lord Of The Rings films. There was also a maze you could get lost in although it was just wooden posts and because Becca is pretty tall she could just see over and find our way out ha. Oh, Rebecca had ended up buying a Stray pass too in the end because she'd realised how amazing we were ha ;).
After this we were finally on our way to Queenstown, infamous for offering every kind of adrenaline filled activity you can think of. We all stayed at Base hostel and were put in specific Stray dorms so we met other people travelling on different Stray buses which was nice. There is not much else I can say about Queenstown except that most days were filled with wandering around and exploring the town and then going out at night! Its definitely a party town...We were meant to only be there for 3 days but ended up staying 6 instead because it was so fun and it would be the last place our bus group would be together as everyone seemed to split off in their own direction after Queenstown so we decided to make the most of it. Those 6 days/nights can be summarised in a nutshell as.. no sleep, rosé wine, table dancing, 'good moron', hip flask, fergburger, lost keys, wrong rooms, wrong bed, memory loss and therapy sessions... all in all a great week ;) The next bus we were to take was the southbound route which goes to Mildford Sound and Invacargill, before heading back up again to Queenstown for another 2 nights.
