20:00 - Jeep Tour day! Today I was picked up at 9am to go and visit the Christ Reedemer on Corcovado, Sugar Loaf mountain, the botanical gardens and the Tijuca forest. Our guide Augustus was a carioca and the only brasilian NOT into football. There were only two other couples on the tour, a russian couple that lived in New Jersey and another from the UK (near Leeds). 4 really nice people. The UK couple were farmers that loved travelling. David, the bearded husband, has a Harley and they sometimes go off on three weeks tours around Europe on the bike. We had a really nice time together. It was only a bit of a pity that it was misty today as the view from the Christ was not very clear as you will see from the pictures. Same goes for Sugar Loaf...a real pity. However, it's all pretty impressive up there! ...and I got bitten again regardless of the additional bug spray. I plan a very easy evening...shower and food (maybe I can even do without the shower :-) ). Tomorrow is relax day as it is the day before my departure for Easter Island and I am planning to try and spend some time on the beach without getting washed away by the waves like last time :-)))!
