Day 1 / 2. After arriving in London, I took the tube to Russel Square, a very crowded but pleasant experience. Checking in to my room, I took a quick 2 hour nap to get caught up before heading out to Hard Rock Calling 2011. Hard Rock Calling was in one of the royal parks, quite a nice walk to get there, but being 30+ degrees out, it was not a very pleasant place to be! A quick shower and cappuccino at the first class arrivals lounge and I'm headed for the tube. Strange, moving sidewalks have signs that say walk on left (opposite to home), even the taps are backwards. At least the water spins the correct way here unlike my last destination! The horror stories or heathrow are not coming true yet, 35 minutes from gate to lounge with all my luggage and immigration cleared!

After a long trip we are descending to London heathrow. We were significantly delayed at departure, but made great time in the air, covering the distance in 6 hours. Dinner was smoked salmon with mixed green salad and fresh tomatoes, followed by mediocre beef with decent scalloped potatoes. One flight down, a little bumpy but all good. Pericles and grilled veggies for a snack. Now the long wait. 5 hours till boarding!

I've reached the first of many airport lounges on this trip! Beer in hand I await the departure of flight #1. T-1 hour. Thanks to mom for getting me to the airport!
