Rohin goes around the world
So after the morning of riding it was time to get ready. With Luke, Jorg and Myself a bit muddy from our ride and Mary, David and Eleise to get through the shower we thought we had better send Jorg in first. Big mistake. An hour after he got in there he was finally out. We think in that time we heard the water go on and off about 4 times but hey, it was his wedding day. So a bit of a frenzie for the rest of us and off to the church. Got a good close possie at the front and it wasn't long till David was walking Anna down the Isle. She looked beautiful. In the 10 years ive known anna I think ive seen her in a dress about 4 times so to see her like this was a bit of a rareity. The dress suited her sensationaly and the hair looked great. Yes I had a bit of tear just at that moment.
David managed to step on the train as he handed her over, Nice work David. Bit of a laugh there. No damage done though.
The service was very nice. Bits were in English and some bits were translated for us also. That was funny as Bernd who was translating had a few issues with some words so the whole crowd was having a bit of a laugh, in a good way that is.
So it all finished, they had a big kiss (how sweet) we all wiped the tears off our cheeks and made our way out the front of the churce where the fun began. First they went through a arch of bike wheels and under a finish banner where they were greeted by an obsticle course. But before hitting the course they had to cut a Cannondale CAD5 mtb frame in half with a hack saw. Thats standard isn't it?
Then Jorg got suited up with a Jersy and full face helmet and Anna got donned with a workers vest and sent to the feed zone. Jorg then had to ride the obsticle course, stop at the feed zone where he drank from a bottle containing good knows what, but im guessing it was pretty strong by his responce. Then back onto the course and greeted by his new wife at the finish. Very amusing and fitting for their wedding I must say.
Then it was time for photos and congrats from the crowd as we all drank way to much champaign.
Soon we were on our way to the reception. It was about a 30min drive away so the convoy of cars were on full horns the whole way with our car pumping out some good old beats on the horn.
At the receptoin after some more champers and photos the night got under way. First a touching speech by Anna's dad and then a speech by Bernd a very close friend. Bernds speech was in German so a very pissed friend decided he would translate the german to english. Well at first we didn't know but is soon became aparent that what we were getting translated was not what was being said in German. In face we got a pretty funny load of s*** talked. He also attempted to do this for the town Mahyors speech but this was a bit disrespectful so he was kicked out of the party.
Later in the night a mini Grand piano was set up and Jorg, being I think one of the most unromantic guys Ive known then did one of the most romantic things ive seen. He played and sang for Anna, Knock Knock Knocking on Heavens door. It was quite a moment in the night (ok maybe a few tears again). Truly felt happy for Anna at the point to a level ive never felt before.
Kellie later played and sang a song she had written for them specially which was beautiful, then the crowd shouted for an Oncour to which Kellie took to some music never seen before and did a duet with the trumpet player. Very talented girl.
We then got treated to a Video that Luke had made for them. It was a great production and very moving. Good work Luke
Then the fun really began. The first act was a bunch of friends dressed in french style costumes singing a song they had written for them. We got a sheet with english translation so we knew what was being said and attempted to sing along as best we could.
Next was a skit by some close friends of a beach scene in Oz, or so we were told. Very Amusing.
The last act of the night had Jorg and two other friends in Too Too's and tights doing a balley act. they even had lipstick on. Quite the show.
I think at one part of the night I commented that you would pay money to see such a production.
We ended the night with alot of dancing and then off to our hotel at about 4am. I was completey sauced. Damien had been delivering a new beer to my table consistanly whilst I was only half way through the previous one. Not wanting to dissapoint I drank them all and ensured that he did not miss a beat, at most times he wasn't even on the same beer when he got another for us. Good work Damo, now why were you so hung over the next day???? I felt fine.
We all met for breakfast the next morning which was nice. Then off back here where Damo and I headed out for a ride. I think we may have been suffering some short term memory loss as we tried to find the ride from the day before but took every turn wrong. We rode around for quite some time on the top of the hill before finally finding the track we wanted and decending back down.
So Anna and Jorg are in Italy on their honney moon/traing camp and im staying here, training, fixing some stuff and will be doing some drafting too. Luke and Anna's parents are here also and at the end of the week we are all off to Austria for a week. Should be very nice
