Day one and ETC decided, wisely it turned out, to hop onto one of the obliquitous tourist tour buses that circle the major tourist points around central Rome, the Colosseum, the Vatican, Circus Maximus, the American consulate. You get the drift, all the important stuff. Typically got touted by the quintessential Italian conman, but all service with a big smile, onto that was not our hotel nominate one but actually saw all we needed to and located ourselves in our local area in Rome. At every stop hoards of touts would try to sell you anything from hats and umbrellas to folding wooden trays and drinks. You wonder how much of this stuff they can sell. But as none were starving obvious a lot
After one and two thirds trips got off to wander through the Piazza Navona and a late lunch, 3.30, at Cantina & Cucina Hosteria in Via del Governa Vecchio. A salad with mozzarella and glass of white wine, ostensibly a Chardonnay, for the ETC and a prosciutto, salami and cheese tasting plate with a Peroni for me whilst watching Rome walk by. Life's good.
