Today is Sunday 22 Jan 2006, a special day for us both for a couple of reasons. The first is its the love of my life Aimee's birthday today and secondly we set out on our holiday to Tasmania.
We awoke early this morning after staying at Shayne's place in Sydney all keen, eager and with great expectations of what was in store for us over the next 14 days. After a hurried breakfast we made our way rather hurriedly to where we were to put our car on the boat and board ourselves ready... WOW!!!!! did not believe it was happening.
When we arrived at the pier the boat had not long arrived back from Tasmania and they were still unloading the cars etc plus passengers were disembarking so we had to wait for around 90 minutes before they allowed us to get on. Finally about 1pm we drove on to the boat, grabbed our overnight bags and made our way up to the main lounge and taken by a steward to our cabin for the overnight trip south.
The cabin, although rather small was cosy with a queen size dbl bed, ensuite, tv, plus porthole was very comfortable to say the least. After settling in we went back up to the main area to look around and to get our bearings and locate the dining room, bars, shop, later on up onto the viewing deck to take a look at Sydney city from a different aspect.
Finally mid afternoon the ships horn was blowing signalling that we were leaving and pulling away from its berth, out into the harbour passing under the Harbour Bridge, past the Opera House, Circular Quay, Fort Denison and down harbour towards the Sydney Heads. Reaching the heads the ship sailed out into the Tasman Sea and headed south for its overnight trip to Tasmania. So in all the excitement our journey had well and truly began... Tassie here we come... please put on your best smile for us.....
