Rotorua is officially the smelliest place we have ever been, it is apparently something to do with sulphur but we werent convinced!!! It is this sulphur that makes all the thermal parks and spa's around the area, the sights are fantastic....it just a shame about the smell! Lake Taupo is the largest lake in all NZ...its so big it looks like the sea! So after spending a night by the lake on the beach we woke up, had a swim and went for a wander around Taupo. After a wobbly 3 hour ferry ride to the North island we were both very relieved to see Wellington lit up in the night sky, (the night ferrys were cheaper!!) We drove up the west coast and stopped at Hokitika for coffee and cakes before We began our trip across Aurthurs pass.
