Exploring the known and unknown
A hotel in the cemetery
Entering Hue at peak hour is a Saigon traffic like experience fighting for road space while dodging scooters coming in from your left and right. The worrying part is that many people are using their mobile phone in one hand while clamping a child or a goat between their knees with their wife on the back holding a baby. Bypassing the city to continue to the coast was the best option. We needed a break and a nice place to stay. Earlier in the day, when visiting a Vinh Moc tunnels, we had spoken to an English guy who runs a backpackers in the area and seemed to know a few nice spots. His recommendation was to go to the Beach Bar - Hotel run by a Frenchman named Michel.
There are hundreds of hotels in and around Hue but Michel's hotel was easily found and he was the only one with clearly visible signs and directions to the location. Riding along the coast you get the impression of travelling through a graveyard with large tombs on both sides of the road but mixed in with houses and shops. A sudden left hand turn into a narrow lane brings you to another graveyard and... the place of accommodation between the large tombs. Hmm interesting.
A long narrow path leads to the beach and the beach bar which Michel had started some years ago and had since added luxurious bungalows nearby. A strange experience. At night I said to Paul, "I am going to take some pictures among the tombs perhaps something interesting comes up" A few minutes I returned and saw in the picture what I had expected to find. This may be something new to some readers so perhaps you should try this for yourself.
In and around graveyards or places where bad things have happened often “Orbs” are seen in pictures. They are small round balls of light only seen by a camera. Sceptics would immediately disperse this as a speck of dust or droplets on the lens etc. Except the previous pictures or next picture don’t show this and other pictures show “orbs” in other positions. I have my suspicion of what they are- as for you perhaps you should Google Orbs and view and read about them. This phenomenon has only been known since the advent of the digital camera in the 90’s.

Rob Hi Guys, I am a little confused here; what about riding through Laos and Cambodia? Is that plan abandoned? Nice pictures by the way, I love the one with the classic looking lady near the bridge...just print in sephia, fold it a few times, lay in a damp area for some time and here's a vintage pic!
Richard Wolters Hey Rob, they answer to this is - see my blog named Wrong Number! We were not allowed to leave with the bikes we have. So i need to make a new plan for next time- i already have a plan actually
