Exploring the known and unknown
Smack in the middle of the North Island and 80 south of Rotorua is where you find a most beautiful lake'
"Lake Taupo" 660 sq km in area and elevated at 360 meters it is actually the top of an extinct volcano. The roads leading the lake are breathtaking. Best not to say too much but let the pictures tell the story. The road follows the line North East – South West and ends in the town of Stratford which is in sight of the 1220 meter high Mount Egmont, locally called Mount Taranaki.
I have to say that it one of the most beautiful roads I have been on. The name is “The forgotten Highway” which is highway nr 43.
From here the road lead back north to Auckland via the coastal road and the city of Hamilton
I hope you liked the story, information and pictures.

Rob Somehow reminds me of Kingston SE or Warrnambool...perhaps the light plays a role, I don't know why... Nice winding roads, again, to me, close resemblance to VIC.
