We landed in Perth to be greeted by Tom and Shelly, friends that we made in South America, and whisked off into town to Freemantle prison, luckily for a tour! The tour was one of the best ones we have done in the last 5 months, bought to life by Brendan our Irish tour guide... well worth a visit if you venture to Perth.
We had a fantastic week and were looked after brilliantly by Tom and Shelly as well as the whole Swallow family. We were invited to the Swallow familly Christmas (Tom and Shelly only arrived home from their travels 2 days before we arrived) and had a great time. We even got presents! (See the pictures!).
From here we drove down the coast towards Margaret river where we stayed firstly in Busselton and then in a Dairy, in the bush with lots of cows, Kangaroos and spiders, just down the road from Margaret River. The dairy was beautiful and in the middle of knowhere which was lovely. Our days generally consisted of free wine tastings (Wise was the best, best service though went to Chris Gibbins of course!). The Cheese, Coffee and Chocolate factories- all of which had free tastings and the Colonial brewery... well we are backpackers now so love anything free! This was all mixed in with BBQ's, the beach and lots of sunshine. We had a great time just relaxing and generally eating and drinking. We also caught up with some old friends from home Chris and Lizzy who were very well and seemed to be enjoying life in WA (great to see you guys).
It was sad to leave Perth but we started our mamouth journey of 28 hours and 3 flights at 4am. It was fairly stressful, Quantas seemed very relaxed about our bus transfer in Sydney, so much so that we got on the plane as the doors were closing, however once on we realised that we were on the new A380... what a plane! Economy seemed like business class there was so much room and a fantastic entertainment system with about 300 quality films, if you get the chance to go on one then take it! (advert over!)
