Hellooo, so after that tiring day, we stayed in Luang Prabang and in the morning went to Kuang Si Falls. These waterfalls are so breathtakingly pretty that even Maya who always avoids taking photos, favouring visual memory instead, even she grabbed my camera and started snapping away. She wants to do a painting with the falls as the background. The colour of the water was a light lagoon blue - like it was full of minerals. The best thing about it was that there wasn't just one waterfall - there were loads of small ones running off the main one each forming small pools which looked like secret fairy glens with all the flowers, rocks and plants. Half of the group took the leap from the tree bough into one of the chilly waterfall pools. It was pretty cold because of the rock and tree shade so I got a bit dizzy coming out but it was all good fun. Luang Prabang as a town was pretty small and quiet. After that, we went to Vang Vieng. Our tour guide Kam kept saying there was an arabic dance class there. Which I was getting very excited about but it took a while until I figured out that he was actually saying 'aerobic' not arabic so then I was a bit disappointed but just for the experience of an outdoor aerobic class by the riverside, and also cos we had been feeling sluggish after long coach journeys, me and Caitlin- one of the girls on the tour, joined in. We were laughing through most of it, just because of the spur of the moment decision to take part and the awkwardness of it (we were wearing long skirts, so the scissor legs and things were quite impossible).
The bus ride up to Vang Vieng was great because of the scenery (which unfortunately not everone could enjoy because of travel sickness), but there were limestone mountains covered with trees and mist, Beautiful! Oh my God, I forgot to mention the chocolate pancakes... now these need a big space in this entry because they are so fatteningly and unhealthily heavenly! Now what they do is they cook the pancake in TONS of butter, then they squeeze LOADS of Hershey's chocolate sauce, then thy sprinkle on coconut, then they fold it and fry it in even more butter, then they squeeze on tons more chocolate sauce and you end up with a hot crispy chocolatey, fatty pancake that should be illegal. I ate only 2 of those (and I was eating banana pancakes with chocolate sauce constantly). Needless to say, I put on about a stone in the space of 5 days. xx
