We arrived in Longreach early on the 16th of August and went straight to the tourist information centre. We discoved there is plenty of amazing things to see and do here. We left out free camp hoping to get to Longreach. Weather was 32 degrees. Stopped at Blackhall for lunch and the kids had a good play in the playground. We stopped again in the afternoon at Barcaldine to fill our water tanks and check out the tree of knowledge. During the 1891 National Shearers Strike the formation of the Australian Labor and Political Movement (Australian Labor Party) emerged from beneath this tree, the tree of knowledge.

Roma Windscreens were fantastic today. They drove straight across from Roma to Mitchell just to replace our windscreen on the Prado. They also looked after us on price. We were very thankful and after lunch were able to get back on the road. We have pulled up at a free camp for the evening at Augathella. The landscape has changed, we certainly are in remote and outback Queensland now.

From St George we thought we would save some time to get to Mitchell. Instead of going through Roma on the highway we took a secondary road. We had 200km to drive. 50km along the carnage of dead kangaroos were unbelievable. Dead roos were on the road every 100m. We left our great hosts Tom & Donna at Copeton Dam early Sunday morning. We filled our water tanks in Inverell before making our way to Moree. We were very surprised at how much cropping is done in this area. Moving north through Mungindi, Thallon to St George is really interesting.
