Ray and Amy 2005
Just spent two days in Taupo, which is a small town on the edge of Lake Taupo, the 4th largest freshwater lake in the world, it was huge!
We went for a two hour horse trek up the mountains and around the craters of the moon, an area of thermal activity. We also took in lovely views of the lake and some not so lovely smells from the horses bums!
Got off and was walking like John Wayne, still a bit sore now.
Also went to Huka falls where we had a quick glimps at the waterfall.
Then headed north to Rotorua which is where the majority of the Maoris are based. This is where the earths crust is at its thinest so there are lots of eruptions and thermal pools. Smells very Eggy aswell.
Ray did a freefall and Zorbing, (rolling down a hill in an inflatable ball - bit like a hamster) I watched!!
We also took the opputunity to see a few of the 450million sheep in NZ at a sheep show!
Ended the day in a nice relaxing thermal spa pools and even had our own private one.
Today we went to a Maori village which was really interesting and watched a traditional show.
