After a stop off in Lusaka to stock up on booze (our group cleaned out the cheap vodka and the supermarket), we headed out to Lake Kariba where we were having 3 nights on a houseboat. Mark & I were the lucky couple to be drawn out of the hat for the penthouse suite so were stoked about that. Lake Kariba is really nice it is a man made lake after they damed the Zambezi in the 70´s. It was then goodbye to Malawi and onto Zambia. So stoked we weren´t one of the brits as they had to pay $150US for there visa, instead of the $50US we had to (think zambia is definatly milking the zim situation). Last stop in malawi was to the capital, Lilongwe. There were lots of overland trucks at the campsite we were staying at, and we arrived just in time to catch the AB´s playing South Africa, and happy to see the AB´s win. Other than watching the rugby didn´t really do much other than a few too many drinks at the bar (especially for mark!).

After our nice stay at lake malawi it was a short drive to stay at a forest lodge in Luwawa forest. Really nice lodge with a few activities to do. Mark and I went for a little paddle on the nearby pond, which wasn´t so nice as it was pretty much an old s***/waste pond. Next stop was back to lake malawi at a different beach for 3 days of R&R. On the drive there where stopped at a local wood craft market, where many malawi chairs were brought (not us though, we opted for a couple of smaller things to post instead). Amazing stuff for next to nothing. Filled in the days with a bit of swimming, chilling on the beach, and BYC.
