Well as our luck would have it, it rained the whole time we were in Surfers, so we didnt get to have our surfing lessons or get much beach action in at all, but we did have a good time exploring the town or more thoroughly the bars!
After Surfers we made our way to Brisbane, to make the most of the wet weather, which meant shopping!! We also went round the science museum - check us! and managed to find a fake beach in the middle of the park before jumping on a ferry! The weather soon cheered up, so we left Brisbane for Noosa, which is a small coastal town. From Noosa we did a day trip to the infamous Australia Zoo, which was pretty cool, if not a little strange. It was all very excitable and extremely American, in the way in which they showcased the animals. Bindi (Steve's daughter) did a song and dance show with the Crocmen, which we managed to sit a whole 5 mins through before the bleeding from our ears got the better of us! The day in whole tho was pretty cool, as we got to be hands on with a whole lot of animals including holding a koala!!
The next day we all had a surf lesson, which was great fun, even if our instructor was a really mean man, who got annoyed with us not being able to surf! This just made me all the more determined and eventually just as the lesson was ending I became the only one to actually get up and surf. Which was worth all the sea water swallowed to be able to rub it in to Dave and Dan!!. Of course they came up with a whole range of excuses why I was able to do it including - "your smaller, so your centre of gravity's lower" and "Your lighter than me!" but still after the last 3 months of them arguing how boys are better than girls, a girl beat them at surfing!! Girls 1 boys 0!! The boys pride was well and truly dented and to this day they'll argue they got up and surfed too! (A slightly false blog by Alice, she did do well but she wasn't any better than me and as for girls 1-0 I don't think so, especially as Molly, part of the girls team, couldn't even get 1 foot on the board. I think we were about even.)
After Nooser we spent the day in Rainbow beach. Having promised the guys I'd teach them how to surf We hired boards out and went to catch some waves. The waves turned out to be a lot bigger here and after about 45 mins of just swallowing sea water, we crashed on the beach vowing never again! Once wed recovered, we made our way to Hervey bay (just with a slight scare, that we had no petrol to get us to the nearest petrol station, 40k away, some how we made it!) The plan was to go to Fraser Island, but it looks like rain again, so we may be heading to Bundaberg instead, which has a rum distillery - splendid!
