After topping up our tans on the beach we got ready for the infamous Full Moon Party.....
(to those who aren't sure - the Full Moon Party at Hat Rin Beach on Koh Pha Ngan island occurs every full moon and attracts between 10,000 and 30,000 party-goers depending on the time of year. July's was a big one, as it coinsided with a Buddhist holiday.)
At the end of a 3 hour boat ride from Koh Tao (which we were told was only hour and a half tut tut) we were all told suddenly to sit down as the boat was rocking, and the storm was brewin, uh oh. Wind and rain wasn't going to stop us, (us now being us two, Gemma & Tanya, and Trevor our new found friends from the boat trip - you will see lots of photos of them) tanya soon found us a make shift umbrella in the form of an abandoned Full Moon New Years banner (it did not smell nice!)!! walking through a couple of inches of water we strolled past the sheltering party goers and headed for the beach! Stopping along the way for emergency ponchos and grub (mama schnitzels's finest) we soon found ourselves in a bar drying off playing drinking games of PING, PONG, PA!
Few drinks later (and when the rain had tired) we did the traditional UV body painting and headed for the beach.....
Grabbing 'buckets' along the way ('THE' full moon party beverage) we approached the beach, not that we could see any sand! it was hidden beneath 1000s of enthusiastic ravers! The photos explain the rest of our night..... enjoy.
All in all we set off at 4:30pm Saturday and arrived back to our beds at 10:15 this morning (Sunday)- good times :-)
p.s. this is our second blog post and photos in 2 days so just a little reminder that although it shows the latest additions on the front page of the site, there may be more to look at in the blog and photo pages.
