We got up stupidly early and walked to the train station, we got there as the train was pulling into the station.
When we boarded the train we would hear a lot of noise. Our carriage was full of Europeans who's body clocks were still in Moscow time so that explained why they were all up at 5am.
We found our cabin and it was full of people drinking. We thought 'great' we're in for a bad 30 hours. We soon came to realise that everyone was super friendly. They emptied out of our cabin for a while and let us settle in. As it turned out we were sharing with 2 blonde Swedish girls. There were some awesome charterers on the train. After a few vodkas we decided to see if we could drive the train. This didn't really work out and got told to go back by an angry Chinese man.
Everyone had been on the train for 4 days already, being bored they wanted to know our story. We only bought a small bottle of vodka for the trip but everyone shared. We went to bed around 10am just after sunrise.
We were on the number 4 train. We expected that it would be better then the pervious train. It wasn't. The carriages were old, the boiler used a wood burner and the toilets were a worse then any Iv seen. Saying that it was an ace experience. But glad we had the 4 day train relaxing and the 30 hours train partying.
We got up in the afternoon. Had fruit we bought with us for lunch, spoke to fellow travellers and read some more.
The border crossing was nerve racking and took 7 hours. But they let us out of Russia and into Mongolia.
That night we drank with girls in the cabin and slept for an couple of hours before we got to Mongolia. We have 5 days here before moving to Beijing.

M Mate I love reading your blogs, at times it has the elegance of a well written novel and other times the simplicity of 'can't you sleep little bear'. Love it! How many times have you asked James how to spell somthing? X
