Another day on the beach today!
We got up at 9.30am and packed our bags as we are leaving today, and left them in the hotel. We had breakfast at a little cafe place on theway to the beach, I had an omlette and a hash brown, which was more like a potato rosti - it was really nice and the first potato I've had since I've been away!
We set up camp on the same part of the beach as yesterday and just sunbathed. I constantly covered myself in suncream so my burn didn't get any worse which was good. I just read my Kindle which I charged last night. The are loads of people trying to sell you things on the beach, as well as English and Aussie bar and club promoters wandering around which does get annoying. Yesterday one of the promoters came to us when Vicky and I were doing some ab exercises on the beach, and he came back today and remembered us as the exercising girls.
At 2ish we went to a cafe to give our skin a break. Vix had some chips but I didn't because I am trying to save money and lose weight, so I figured chips wouldn't help either of those endeavours. After lunch (a coke in mine and Vidky's case) we headed back to the beach and I fell asleep for a bit. At 4ish I decided to head back to the hotel because I wanted to finish uploading my photos and the sun wasn't as strong so I wouldn't be missing out on any major tan time. The other two stayed on the beach and I walked back to the hotel. I managed to finsih uploading my photos, so now they are all online (well a decent selection of them) from the beginning of the trip up until now. The others came back about an hour and a half later and used the internet for a bit too. There is a guy staying here called Thom who we first met on the minibus to Hoi An, and have seen a few times since. It is his 22nd birthday today, and the owner of the guesthouse bought him a birthday cake and some candles so we sang happy birthday to him. He is travelling on his own so it was really nice of the owner to do that for him. We are going to write a review on Trip Advisor about this place, it was worth paying a couple of extra quid for the nice room, good internet and really helpful propietor. We can't afford to spend $10 a night every night though!
We headed for some dinner at a place called 'Why Not', I went for a Western tagliatelle carbonara - it was good! Vicky and I ordered a dessert called 'Fall in Love' which professed to be ice cream with melted hot dark chocolate and peanuts. It was more like ice cream with cold slightly chocolate flavoured water at peanuts. I complained but instead of sorting it out for you here, they tend to defend themselves instead. She was perfectly nice about it but didn't offer to put some real melted chocolate on it!
On the way out of the bar, we saw the promoter who had given us a flyer for it earlier (the one who saw us exercising). We got chatting to him for a bit, he is from Bournemouth and came away three years ago just travelling like us, and hasn't been home since! He has been living in Vietnam for the past seven months. Since he's been away he hasn't seen his family, and his sister has had two kids! There is no way I would be able to do that, especially so unplanned like he did. I'm pretty sure my mum would fly out and bring me back anyway!
We are back in the guesthouse now, we need to go round the corner to the travel agents for 10.15pm to catch our night bus to Ho Chi Minh City.
Hopefully we find somewhere with internet so I can update you once we get there!
