We got up at around 10am and checked straight out of our mountainside bungalow so we could somewhere to stay for the next two nights on Phi Phi. It didn't take us very long luckily. We got a triple fan room with a shared bathroom for 250 baht (£5) a night each. That is very expensive for the rest of Thailand but quite cheap for Phi Phi.
To save money I got a pancake from a stall for breakfast. Whilst I was waiting for it I turned around to see where the others were and instead saw Dougie, my ex boyfriend from two years ago, and his girlfriend! There was no way to politely make an exit because we were both waiting for pancakes, so we had to make awkward conversation while we waited. Small world!
Whilst at the pancake stand we also bumped into Keith, our Canadian friend we met in Koh Tao (I forgot to mention before that when we left Koh Tao he gave us all a little Canada flag pin to remember him by, which we have pinned onto our bags). Keith had met up with a friend of his called Chris, so we joined them in a restaurant called Garlic 1992 for some breakfast (I just ate my pancake). There were pictures on the wall of when the restaurant was flattened by the tsunami, with pictures of each stage of them rebuilding it.
We headed to the beach after breakfast, where it was very overcast. Vicky and I didn't mind as we wanted to give our skin a rest, but Vix wasn't so happy as she has limited tanning time left before she goes home next week! Keith and Chris joined us and we also met some other travellers from the
UK, Israel and Canada and just spent what felt like forever in the sea chatting.
Afterwards Vick and Vix went shopping and I didn't want to be tempted, so I joined the boys for a drink. They bought
beers in the 7-11 and I bought a wine cooler, a 5% winopop (I made that word up). On the way back I saw a top that I had seen yesterday and just couldn't resist it, it is chiffony and pink with white polka dots.
I showered and changed into my new top, and Chris, Keith and I went for a wander. It was Chris' first day in South East Asia after being in Australia, so he was intrigued by the bucket stalls at the side of the road. We were trying to persuade him to get one and in the end all three of us got one! We ended up sitting in a coffee shop/bookshop place for about three hours getting progressively more drunk, and by 7.30pm we were all wasted! We had met Vix and Vick by this point, so we headed for some dinner at a place called Papaya, where there was a cat asleep in the fridge! She obviously slept in there to keep cool but it looked odd. There were also loads of tiny kittens which we played with for a while.
After dinner we headed to Carlitos and met Jordi, Julia and the Irish guys (who got tattoos last night) and watched the fire show again. One of the Irish guys apparently woke up this morning and tried to scrub his tattoo off of his foot, because he didn't remember getting it done! At one point the Macarena came on and Chris and I stood on our chairs to do it, that was fun, I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed the Macarena.
Afterwards we headed to the beach party again, where there was a half moon party, and spent the night dancing and chatting - Vick and I didn't get in until 4am! It was a really fun night.
