I had planned to wake up at 4am to Skype Ed, but I woke up in the middle of a dream and was completely dazed and confused so I went back to sleep!
In the morning Vix got up early to go rock climbing, and Vick and I got up at about 9am. We had some (included!) breakfast in our hotel and then wandered down the road to the beach. On the way down I bought a lovely real pearl bracelet for £6.40. I shouldn't have really, but as soon as I saw it I knew we were meant to be together so I didn't have much of a choice really. I also bought a flower hair clip for about 70p because I usually wear flowers in my hair in the Summer, but I forgot to bring any from home.
At the bottom of the road we bought a return boat ticket to Railay West beach for 160 baht (£3.20). The boats are called long tail boats. They are old and rickety, and powered by what looks like a car engine with a little propeller on the end of a long stick. The driver holds the other end of the stick and the engine is on a pivot, so the propeller can be lifted out of the water, or twisted right round so it is almost next to the boat to make it go backwards. To get in we had to wade into the sea and climb over the side. The journey to Railay West was only ten minutes.
Railay is a fairly short bay surrounded by stunning rock formations which overhang the sea. Vick and I found a place to sunbathe and settled down for all of 20 minutes before we got too hot.
We then moved to a resort, and found two sunbeds in some shade facing the beach, but with a pool behind - perfect. We enjoy making use of the five star resort facilities!
Ed was awake at 5am English time, so I went to the internet cafe of a different resort and spoke to him for an hour on Skype. Not long after I rejoined Vick, the heavens opened so we took cover in the resort restaurant. After a bit we headed back to the internet cafe where I Skyped my parents for half an hour, they are in Prague.
The sky was still overcast when I was finished, and I wanted to burn off the crisps I'd just eaten. The other resort pool was empty, so we got two sunbeds next to it and I did some lengths! The views around were amazing despite the weather; I had a really nice, chilled day.
When we were leaving we saw a wedding being set up, the setting is so beautiful, it's just a shame that it had to rain on their big day!
We got a longtail boat back at around 5pm and had a coffee in the room, updating our journals. Vix got back at around 6pm, and we just relaxed and used the computers for a bit before having dinner at a super cheap place called Tonsai. My red chicken curry with rice was only 45 baht (90p).
Back at the hotel now. I am so tired! We are heading to Koh Phi Phi tomorrow morning quite early so I'm hoping to get a good night's sleep.
