Brian can have a good career as a football commentator !!! watched the game and I was on edge of my seat, sent you a text straight after the match. Hope you received it.
You are the proud owner of a Padi certification card received last week. Let me know whether you need it in Aus or keep it in the house for you. take care

Another final like this and Liverpool tickets will have to carry a government health warning, something a little more esoteric than Smoking Kills, maybe something in a Liverpool dialect like This friggin game could damage yer ealth. Liverpool won again, the hard way, remember Alaves, Arsenal in 2001, and Istanbul last year, well now you can add Cardiff 2006 to the burgeoning list of never say die performances.
When West Ham scored their third goal, a fluke crossed ball that eluded a normally fine goalkeeper, I sent a text to Jon saying, simply Its just not our day. West Ham played well throughout (until the penalty kicks), Liverpool were lack-lustre throughout (until the penalty kicks). West Ham were the beneficiaries of some outrageous good fortune, an own goal by a normally resolute defender, a fumble by a goalkeeper whose handling all season had been exemplary, and then a cross that went in, even the Reo-Cocker effort right at the end of extra time owed more to fortune than skill (the back of ones neck not being the most potent of weapons in the penalty area). The cup has been won before by a fluky goal (Stuart Pearson for Man U in 1978 for example) but never three.
Collectively Liverpool were having an off day, Alonso didnt look fit, Kewell had a good spell for 15 mins, Cisse tried hard but apart from his goal didnt look threatening, Crouch laboured as did Finnan. It was, as usual Steven Gerrard that dragged Liverpool back into this game, at two goals down a cross to Cisse and an assured finish from the Frenchman. Gerrards equaliser, following two exceptional saves from Reina at the start of the second half, was a typical attacking midfielders goal, running into the box at pace and striking the ball past Hislop with venom. At this point I expected Liverpool to go on and win in normal time, but credit to West ham they never gave up and Liverpools stamina seemed to be fading. When West Ham scored the third I thought it was all over, players were falling down with cramp, even if we could equalise would we have a team to play the extra time. Prior to this I felt Liverpool looked the more likely team, Hamman was on and the balance had been restored to the team. Sissoko looked better with the German along side him and Gerrard, cramp permitting was free to roam forward. Then came one of those very special moments in life whilst watching you favourite team on the very brink of defeat. The stadium announcer was just finishing his address regarding the amount of injury time to be played when Gerrard hit a thunderous drive from thirty yards out that flew wide of the goalkeeper and was still rising as it the back of the net. I would have said despairing dive of the goalkeeper but I doubt he had time for despair never mind a dive such was the ferocity of the shot. Three all and West Ham were crestfallen, Liverpool were buoyant mentally but legs were drained and thirty minutes extra time must have seemed like an eternity. Liverpools walking wounded survived, the game being played at a snails pace by now, but survive they did thanks to Reina who made an impossible save flicking a necker from Reo-Cocker onto the post, whilst Harewood was left to spoon the rebound for a goal kick. Penalties were Liverpools best period of the game. Reinas first save from Zamora was the clincher, it was an excellent penalty, struck hard and low to Reinas right but he saved it, and whats more, made it look easy. This save from what would normally be a perfect penalty strike dented the confidence of the experienced members of the West Ham team and drained completely the confidence of the younger players from which they never recovered. They hit the target but without conviction. With Hamman, Rijse and Gerrard looking assured from twelve yards the cup was Liverpools again.
Just time to get our breath back before June 9th.

Simon reality is England has basically no chance in the world cup just as the "socceroo's" wont :P Im tipping on Brazil.. and by the way seeing your in australia its SOCCER over here not football :P in our game of football you use ur hands rather then ur feet! dont ask about the logic in the name because there is none but its an awesome game all the same! have fun and see ya soon!
