The drive back was pretty uneventful and we arrived at the ferry in good time for our 16.05 sailing, so were put onto the 15.20 departure instead, but that actually ended up being delayed by 30 minutes so in the end we didn't get back to the UK much before we had expected. Of course once back on UK roads the traffic was much worse than it had been in the rest of Europe, but we carried on arriving home about 7pm, tired but having had a very enjoyable trip. If we do anything like this again I think we would try not to cram so much into each day and make the distances for each day's journey less as we felt we often arrived a bit too late to h ave a really good look around the place we were staying. Having said that though, overall a very enjoyable holiday!!
