We arrived down at the Lido for Phil to register in good time, at about 8am and met up with Ben who had also just registered. We then had a coffee and waited till it was time for the boys to go on a boat across to the other side of the lake where the swim would start at about 10am. Like a good girl I stayed and looked after all the bags for them whilst they were away!! They both managed the swim really well and finished in a time of 1 hour and 8 minutes for a swim of 2.5km! Well done lads!! We again had quite a long journey ahead of us, so saying our farewells to Ben we set off on a wonderful drive through some stunning scenery over the Lukmania Pass and then through Andermatt and the OberAlp Pass. The scenery was everchanging, sometimes green, sometimes more barren and dramatic, but always lovely. Andermatt looked very pretty and then we had a very steep descent on winding switchbacks. On one switchback we stopped at a roadside caravan selling mountain cheese, homemade bread etc where we bought bread and cheese for a picnic lunch and a cup of coffee with some little nutty tartlets for pudding - lovely!! Once we left the mountains behind the scenery changed again until we eventually arrived in Titisee Neustadt, again next to a lake - is there a theme running here?? Titisee was quite a strange place, bit too commercialised we felt, with a very mixed range of nationalities. We had a walk around and the obligatory beer, of course, before returning to eat outside our hotel, where we were served by 4 lovely waitresses who told us they were from Macedonia and only there for 2 months or so before returning to continue their studies at home. Their English, as with so many people we met along the way, was really good and made us feel very lazy and inadequate that we don't speak much of any other language.
