Over a nice breakfast we chatted with the owner and then set off for the longish drive to Morzine. We went via Annecy where we had lunch at a lakeside restaurant, we had intended to look round the town itself but everywhere was very busy and finding a parking place was a nightmare so we went a little further along the lakeside. After lunch we made a short detour so that we could drive through Manigod, Phil's favourite place on Earth!! It is still very beautiful and lovely to be back in the mountains again and seeing some skilifts, although most of these were not working in this area. Then it was on through La Clusaz, where we've skied before, and on via Cluses towards Taninges. We decided to go through Samoens so that we could go up the Col de Joux Plan and down into Morzine that way, seeing some of the places where we usually ski. It was absolutley amazing to see some of the slopes and runs we often ski without any snow and looking green and even driving along some of the ski-runs!! We stopped outside the Wetzet, one of our favourite haunts for coffee or lunch when skiing, but unfortunately it had just closed, then we drove along down the Choucas run to the bottom of Chamoissiere and on past the Charniaz Express lift and down onto Morzine - how beautiful!! On entering Morzine we decided it would be rude not to stop for a cheeky beer in the Dixie Bar, and I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing that Big Pascal recognised us immediatley and asked how we were!! We went to Chalet Thalassa where we met Steve and Sue who had also arrived a little while before us. They'd already eaten so Phil and I walked into town to eat at Dez Alp where we had a lovely meal (as always) and even had a marching brass band come and play outside for us, a lovely welcome back to Morzine!!
