Philippa's Travels
Hi everyone,
I am so sorry I have been so lazy with the old postcards, my mam has told me off so here i am writing to you all. Well where do i start..... I have really settled down into spanish life now and really beginning to enjoy myself. This is also got something to do with the fact mt two friends Lucy and Ed have moved to Malaga which is fab because we can meet up and everything. Simon is here on holiday at the moment, we went to madrid on saturday morning, we had to have constant text messages from mum and dad about the rugby progress, there were several other english blokes also getting texts so we all sat in the bar of the train, they were on beer (it was 9am) but me and Simonn stuck to tea, when we arrived in madrid we found a hostal and then went sight seeing. We had some fantastic tapas, I am becoming slightly obsessed with tapas particularly the ocotpus variety. We had a big palte of it with potatoes, it was lush. Then we had a bit of a crazy night out. Simon ended up asleep at 1 thirty, yes he is supposed to be a northerner but clearly he is a lightweight. I ended up meeting some new yorkers and went out on the razzle until 7am when I staggered in and got about four hours kip before having to get up again. We went exploring to the plaza mayor and a big park, It was baltic i madrid compared to the sunny south. Then we got the train back at 8. Throughly enjoyed myself, last night on my birthday, I went into Malaga with David, hannah, Simon and Ian where we met up with Lucy and ed, they had got me a cake and champagne and we had that and then we went out for tapas, it was lush, got loads of plates and shared them. Then we went to a weird little jazz bar where a strange man was throwing himself around the floor in a random body popping fashion... very strange. I had a lovely day i even got presents from staff and the kids. Got a big bunch of flowers, chocolate and Cd which was really nice as have only been there a while and all the spanish staff sang Crumpleanos Feliz to me in the staff room. Then at 4pm a big fed ex van pulled up at the door of my class, it opens outside and i got a big box full of cards and presents from my family. It was really excellent. i know people have sent me things and they have not arrived yet but I have had a letter to pick up a parcel. I can't do it till saturday as it shuts at 2pm..... handy This country makes me laugh, the postal system is appalling and so are the roads, I ruptured a tyre in a pot hole, but the trains are excellent. My bank sent my english bank card to england, of course........
Anyway not long till christmas and i will update soon anyhow,
lots of love
The Welsh
