Today was quite a long drive (200km) down from Cape Tribulation, back across on the cable ferry, past Cairns and down to a very small town called Babinda with a huge population of 1170 people. I leave Dougie's and Port Douglas behind as there is not too much to do here and take a drive up to Cape Tribulation. Along the way I get stopped at a rail road crossing by a narrow gauge train pulling a huge load of about 30 trailers containing sugar cane which is growing in almost every field along the roadside here. Today I went down to Low Cost Car Hire and picked up my little campervan. It went down here originally to pick up an orange Spaceship (www.spaceships.tv) but I managed to negotiate this van for less money than the Spaceship and it has room for 3 people and space to actually stand up. The flight from Darwin was only 3 hours, so I arrived in Cairns at 8am. As I had seen Border Control (Australian Customs Show) on TV before, I made sure that I declared my wooden artefacts that I had bought from various places in SE Asia and also the food that I had on me. I was sent to the customs area where they checked my declared items, which I had put in my hand luggage and said that they were fine and sent me on my way. Wow, they were much friendlier her...

I am quite sad today as it is time to pack my backpack and say goodbye to South East Asia. It's definitely been an adventure I will never forget and an experience of a life time.
