ARMIDALE-GLADSTONE-CAIRNS-CLIFTON BEACH
So the idea of this quick trip north to visit the Butterfly Sanctuary was to leave our 'house' behind, throw the tent in the back and feel into some discomforts. Well great theory Girls!! So far, we have spent a whole 2 nights in the tent!! We have been generously invited to stay with new and old friends along the way, and the times we had psyched ourselves up for the tent- it bucketed down rain...NOOOOOOO!!!
So, obviously we are not quite willing to go to the wet soggy extreme of packing-unpacking, as we drove massive days to get up here. Then, as luck would have it- we found some awesome deals WAY TO GOOD TO REFUSE for an apartment on the coast at Clifton Beach for the same price as a powered camp site. Yeeha!!
As we prepare to head up to Cape Tribulation, it seems we are destined to still experience wet soggy camping...oh well. The irony is I've grown up with camping- and Kerry cried desperately "NO, please don't make me live in a tent" when I originally suggested we ''throw the tent in the back and just go!" to travel Australia! Now I'm the one baulking at it!!!
Thanks to Carina for opening your home to us in Uralla.
Big hugs and farewell to the Manary family as Dwayne and Debbie move their gorgeous kids HOME to Canada- best pancakes EVER!! Traveling to BC for an adjustment wouldn't be craziest thing I've ever done (*grin*)!! (as long as Canadian Brekky is thrown in!!!)
Unfortunately we missed catching up with Kerry's best mates in Mackay- next time round guys, for sure!
Monika and Grant, the managers at Clifton Sands, gave us some great tips for bike rides along the coast to Palm Cove, and lent us the very comfy hammocks you see us enjoying in the cover pic. The temp up here has been averaging 27deg, high humidity- you work up a sweat just moving from the pool to the beach chair!!

Nell Fantastic trip despite the rain and high humidity! Meeting and catching up with so many friends and meeting folk, great!
