Well it's been a while since we have posted a blog entry, internet access is harder to find than anticipated. Currently sitting in an internet cafe in Las Vegas, and tomorrow morning we leave for New York.
So a quick recap of the past week and a half since you last heard from us...
We left Los Angeles last Tuesday morning (April 22nd) and headed out to Indio in California. We stayed in a really nice private rental house on one of the many many golf courses in the area. Basically this whole area is desert, surrounded by these beautiful giant rock mountains, and whacked in this valley are a trillion luxurious golfing resorts.
We spent Tuesday and Wednesday relaxing and drinking in the "condo" before picking Larissa and Chris up from the Palm Springs airport on Thursday, where they had arrived from San Francisco. Thursday night we enjoyed a home cooked meal for a change (courtesy of Geoff Gansz aka Malcolm).
On Friday, we headed to the Empire Polo Fields for the Coachella Music Festival. This was a 3 day festival, and was absolutely amazing. Beautiful location, well organised and set up, and some really great performances from the likes of Portishead, Dredg, Battles, The National, Architecture In Helsinki, Shout Out Louds, Sons & Daughters, with the highlight certainly being Roger Waters amazing visual and audio show. Apparently word of the giant inflatable pig made it back to Australia...
We left Indio on Monday just passed and drove back to LA to catch our flight to Las Vegas. Unfortunately time got the better of us and we just missed our flight. As a result we continued on to Las Vegas in the hire car, with the drive taking about 4 hours. Im glad we did drive because it was a really beautiful and scenic drive.
We have been here in Las Vegas for 4 nights now, staying at Caeser's palace, which has to be seen to be believed. In fact, the whole city itself is amazing. Overblown, Theatrical, In Your Face, Indulgent. Basically a giant theme park for adults!!! Hence we have had some great nights out, including Wednesday night which we had a VIP room at a upmarket vegas night club. It wasn't cheap, but it was a fantastic night. Last night we saw Wayne Brady stage show, which was thoroughly entertaining (he is the african american bloke from "Who's Line Is It Anyway")
Anyway time to sign off, I only have 2 mins left on the computer!
Hope all is well back home xx
