Hi Again!! Here we are in Queenstown for the second time! We decided to come back as i wanted to do the canyon swing ( i was ill the first time we were here ) and jo wanted another ferg burger!! (they are exceptional burgers!!!)
Since leaving Wanaka we headed here and after a couple of uneventful days in the adreneline capital of the world we headed out to te anau and the milford sound.
Milford was amazing! We did a kayak trip and saw dolphins and seals, we heard a penguin but us and penguins are not on speaking terms at the moment!! (you'll find out why soon!)
From there we headed to invercargill, the oldest place on earth in terms of its inhabitants! Purple rinse brigade!
Moving on swiftly we headed through the catlins, but unfortunately most of the tracks were unsealed so we couldnt take the camper down them or the routes were shut for lambing...... doh! Plus it was tipping down the whole time!
Onwards and Up wards to Dunedin! Another place of the old! Here lies the penguin story! We headed out first to see some yellow eyed penguins and hiked a mile or so along a wind and rain swept beach to a hide, almost tripping over a sea lion en route! quite scary as those b*****s are massive! The penguins didnt show..........
Next to Pilot beach to sit and await the march of the blue penguins at dusk...... We sat there for 2 hours before giving up due to the cold and wet conditions. We had had it with penguins....... to make things worse a couple who had turned up as we left arrived at the camp site an hour or so later saying they had seen loads of penguins........ not happy bunnys!
After that we decided to move back to queenstown for some burgers and throwing ourselves (turned out to just be me) off stuff! That was yesterday, i did the cayon swing twice and this time have the proof!
So thats it for now, not sure where to next but we will keep you all informed!
Loads of Love Paul and Jo XXX
