Pat's Virtual Run Across America
Greetings from Seaside, FL!
Run Stats:
Day: 9
Miles Completed: 36.8
Miles to San Diego: 2063.2
Avg Miles/Day: 4.1
Shoe of Choice: Skora Fit
Playlist Favs: Hello Today with Tripp & Tyler; FM Static
Guest Runners: Annie the dog
Located 21 miles to the west of Panama City is the small town of Seaside, FL. It located on the quaint and scenic Hwy 30A. Per wikipedia, it is one of the first cities in America designed on the principles of New Urbanism. The town rose to global fame as the main filming location of the movie "The Truman Show" starring Jim Carrey.
The whole 30A corridor is a fun place to visit - either as a day trip or vacation destination - with lots of great restaurants, shopping and (of course) the sugar white beaches and emerald waters of the gulf coast. Seaside has a cute town center with an outdoor amphitheater, gourmet food trucks and is a great place to rent a bicycle and go for a ride. They have a great songwriters festival every year, in fact it's coming up next weekend and includes the artists Drew Holcomb and Jackson Browne!
The virtual run seems to be off to a good start. It's already motivated me to run a few extra days including 2 in the rain. I think I've also figured out the charity part as well. The plan for this run will be to donate $1.00 for every mile run each month to a different charity or need. At the end of each month, I'll share some info about the different charities, what and why they do what they do and provide contact info in cases others would like to follow or support them as well.
Looking forward to sharing again with you soon! Thanks to all who take the time to read this.
Cheers,
Pat
