We set off in the van for some wild camping around the Brecon Beacons in Wales (or as wild as you can be in a 20ft motor home with all mod cons) which basically means overnighting in car parks, lay-byes and anywhere else we can get away with not paying. Life doesn't get much better than a week on Hilbre in the height of summer, the mackerel are biting, the flatties are fat and the shrimp are in abundance. We had the best of the weather in the first half of the holiday, arriving in West Kirby on Wednesday and crossing to the island the very next day full of enthusiasm. A great few days with Sarah & Brian eating, drinking & playing the guitar! Well our grand adventure is now officially underway and was kicked off in style with 3 days in the New Forest with Di, Matt, Georgina, Harriet & Jan. Despite the traditional British weather a good time was had by all, the new bbq was christened and all the systems in the van (including the heating!) were put to the test.
